The Sting Behind Being Hung Up On
"Can
you imagine that boy?! I was talking to him and he had the guts to cut the call
on me. Wait till I get home, he will explain to me what prompted him to take such
action!” This statement made me to start writing about the pain that comes in
with being hung up on. It was funny when I heard these statements but naturally
it hurts especially when you are saying something important or talking to
someone who matters to you.
In
my own definition, ‘Cutting the Call” on someone is like saying “Shut up! What you
are saying is irrelevant” or “I don’t give a damn about you say”. I for one always
hung up on people especially when I am upset; but when it’s done to me, I feel
insulted. Funny right, it is easier to hurt someone but when the same thing is
done to you, it is not fair. I guess this is where the saying “do unto others
what you would want them to do unto you” comes in.
But
on the hand, this action does not happen intentionally. Some of them happen as
a result of lack of network, lack of phone credit, battery problems, phone problems e.t.c. For instance, maybe the boy did not deliberately hung up
on his mother. What if his airtime had run out? What if he was not in a good
position or environment to take her calls? But they are just excuses right? What
matters is that he disrespected her by ending their calls. He gave her that pinch. And
maybe, after dealing with him and learning of the reason behind it all, she might
ask “why didn’t you tell me?!”
Well, to hang up on someone might be immature, rude, annoying or a mistake; but it sure leaves a sting.

Good one
