The Dogs’ Conversation

The female dog observes the calm environment. “Of course, it's past midnight, the humans would be deep asleep by now”. She thought. “Now is the time to teach her a lesson”. She walks over to the cage across her and finds the other female dog resting with her head bent over her knee. With the aura of trouble surrounding her, she angrily strode towards the one resting. “Look at you! You think you can cut your cake and have it; we’ll finish up what you started!". She growled a little. The second female dog stands up straight ready to give back what the troublemaker is about to throw at her. “Well, well, well, I can see you are not ready to accept that what’s mine, is mine...” She says with a smirk as she gradually walk round the other dog. Slowly, they began to walk behind each other, tail by tail. The first dog replies with a loud bark, “The bone is mine!” “No it isn’t!” replied the second dog, “ It is given to me as a gift; and as his wife, it is my duty to appreciate the effort of my husband.” She says with a smile, triggering the anger of the first dog, “I’m his wife too!”. The quiet night became an uproar as the two female dogs continued to bark loudly against each other; each one refusing to call a truce. Meanwhile, their husband, was having a peaceful night, for he was worn out from the hunt he had with his master. He wakes up angrily to the loud commotion happening outside his cage. He got worried, because he was the reason why it all happened in the first place. Coming back from his hunt, he found a big, fresh bone and decided to bring it home to his second wife; for making it through the childbirth of their puppies. The first wife saw it and couldn't hide her jealousy. “You never gifted me a bone as big as this when I had my puppies.” There goes trouble again. “If I had seen a bone like this when you first had your puppies, I wouldn't have hesitated in getting it for you”. He replied. “Then let me have a piece of it, for it is mine as much as it is hers.” She makes to walk to the second female dog but he blocked her. “Don’t even dare!” He growled angrily “The bone is much hers as it was yours when you first had your puppies. She deserves it and you know it! Now if you cannot appreciate this moment, I suggest you back off and cease to ruin my day!” He barked at her, barring his teeth angrily. Little did he know that she would back to make more trouble. As he stepped out of his cage, he gave a loud and mighty bark which sounded like “SILENCE!”. The quiet night which was interrupted had returned. He starred at the two female dogs before staring hard at the first one. Without a word, she fled to her cage and so did the second female dog. A few minutes into the silence, another dog who was observing all the while, came around and asked, “What happened to the chaos? Did you stop it?” The male dog turned to him and barked in a loud tone, “GET OUT!” And that was the final noise that was made that night. Meanwhile, I rolled back to my bed; grateful for the silence that drifted me back to my “Lala Land”.
